I attended Fellowship Baptist Church in Forney and heard the many brave tales of Laurren Smith. I am a nursing student at Trinity Valley Community College and will be graduating in May 12th this year. Because of the hero Laurren was to this town, I have decided to be on oncology nurse. God willing, I will work with pediatric clients. No child should have to battle as hard as she did. It is my goal that I can help and take on this battle with and for others. I pray for peace for the Smith family, and hope that this offers them hope that she touched and encouraged a stranger like me. I will do my best as a nurse to carry on her strength. She was a light to others. God bless you.

Smith Family,
I am thinking of you today. I was looking for the number of another Smith and this website popped up. I pray for yor often, especially October through December. A ‘love 4 Laurren’ ornament hung on my tree this year. I smile every time I see her car sticker around town with that cute spikey hair. I am so proud of the good Laurren and your family did and continue to do. The love your Laurren unified and electrified this town. Her story will always be a lesson in faith and a ministry for people of this community. xo

This is probaly way too late, but oh well..
Laurren, I really didn’t know you, I just remmeber you being in my choir class. You sat infront of me. I remember thinking is that the laurren smith? the laurren everyone loves, and the laurren i hear every 8th grader talking about? Haha, well everyone answered my question it was you. People do say that your a hero to them, but too me i think your an insperation(spell check, haha)Why? Because, alot of people told me that even tho you had cancer you still lived life to the fullest. You still did all this differnt stuff, while deep down inside you knew you were dying..Now, if i had cancer i would have just thought negative. But, i don’t think you did. Laurren, your an insperation. A hero? Maybe. Insperation? Of course. We love you? With all our heart. I know, youre in a better place. Holla, to god for me. Girl. <3

Laurren, I never knew you personally, but I heard about you a lot. I’ve seen you in person before, but never talked to you. I wish I would’ve. I wrote a poem for you.
The day you died,
Everyone Cried.
Even I whom you’ve never met,
Shed a tear or two.
I can’t even imagine your parents,
After losing someone as special as you.
Your gorgeous smile,
And those dances you made up,
Every once in a while.<3
Sorry, I never finished, love you.(:

Laurren-
I’ve only met you in person once, when I was with Megan Johnson, and we were at a Jackrabbit-Longhorn game. You had the brightest smile ever, and I knew that someday, I would live by your journey. I went to your recent birthday party, and it amazed me of how many people were there, celebrating your big day. Every football game I went to, I would see your money jar. I started to notice that the jar was everywhere! I was so happy to see how many people were donating. God made the amazing choice for you to go to a better place and be held in his open arms. We miss you so much Laurren, & your in our prayers forever. Keep flying higher&higher Wowen.<3

I woke up one morning and noticed how bright the sky was. Then i realized it was because she was up there. Laurren was my inspiration and i am getting tears in my eyes just thinking about it. She was an awesome girl, and i hate to see her go. But at least we know that she is in heaven now. As i see it, we didn’t lose a friend, we gained a guardian angel:)
I love you Laurren!!!

Dear Mr. Smith,
Your poem “Flying” was absoleutly amazing! I cried while reading it. Anyways, Laurren was beautiful. She could bring a smile to anyones face and was always so positive and happy. I cant even begin to imagine the pain you must feel, losing your daughter. Ive lost my grandfather to cancer, and my grandmother (on a diff. side of the family). I understand losing grandparents are hard, but they’re old and you know there going to die, however with Laurren, she was young. She might’ve lost the fight to cancer, but through are eyes she will ALWAYS be a winner. REST IN PIECE LAURREN!

I never got the pleasure of meeting Lauren or her family but what I hear that have got to be the strogest human beings, at least in our town. Thank you for the privledge of sharing Lauren in the town of Forney. Lauren is such a beautiful girl including her angel kisses, my daughter attending her funeral today and told me that it was like celebrating her life instead of morning her death. I am sure she will always be remembered as the strong lil girl who fought to the very end. My thoughts and prayers will now be with all her loved ones and remember one day you shall be with her again.

Heyy, my names Katelynn Hollowayy..
I go to Warren Middle School. I’ve only seen Laurren, Never really had a chance to actually meet her. She was a beautiful, beautiful, girl. She was loved, I can see that, by many, many, people. She will always be loved as well.
I would probably of never been able to make it out positive like she did. She was a very strong girl, and I can see where she got it from,(her strong, loving, parents). My mother told me, that she doesn’t know how her parents did it, that she would never have been able to keep strong like Laurrens parents did. That if I were gone, she would be gone too.. & The whole time I was at the funeral, all I could thing about was a verse from the bible… “Love Never Fails -1 Corinthians 13:8.” & as I can see, Laurrens love never failed, nor did her parents.
I hope & pray that the parents of Laurren will get through this tragedy, but with a positive attitude like Laurren. & I wish them luck in the future.

Hello,
I read about your beautiful daughter on John DeFeo’s Facebook page. I lost my daughter to a horrible disease in July. She would have been 1 year old on December 11, 2009. There are no great words of comfort, there is nothing to say to make this any better. I am so very sorry.

dear mr.&mrs. smith,
laurren was the most unquie person ive ever met. when i see her at school its like seeing a famous person.
when she died we were all heart brokrn. she had a good long fight for almost 3 years. now she is in peace.
she was the most beautiful, funny, talented person ive ever met. she is now in heaven with our lord and watching us from above. now when we look at the school we see her ace when we walk down the hallways we hear her voice traveling around the school.
its hard to think that shes dead. it just feels so unreal.

Dear Laurren and Family,
I have never met Laurren, and today was the first day I have even seen her face or heard of her whole story. But my nieces and nephews attend Forney schools and would anyways keep me updated about her. I have been helping support her by collecting tabs off cans. Today was the first day I have seen Laurrens face and heard the whole story because it was on an internet page I was looking at. I was speechless. There truly are no words to describe this girl. I wish there was a stronger word for amazing and hero because she is much more than that. I have dealt with cancer in my family and it is so hard watching it effect someone in your life and there ain’t a thing you can do about it. I wish I could have met Laurren and just have had her touch me because she is truly an Angel. I will definitely have her remembered by having her name on my race car this next season along with my other heroes.

I just read about this amazing Gril that has touched that many life’s, she sure be missed, but on the Bible we do have the promise of resurrection on John 5 28-29 and that for sure is going to happen because God promise in Titos 1-2 and can’t lie, his promise so will be reality until that we just have to wait and to the family please do as in Psalm 55.22 say, put all your suffering into God’s hands an He will support in this time of sorrow

Laurren we miss you so much already! It feels like jsut yesterday i heard about your story. I can’t believe it ended up like this. I just wish this was a bad dream and we all woke up tomorrow and everything was okay and you were still here to inspire us everyday. Even though your gone i am still inspired. Having mixed emotions is not something you think about. I am happy that your not in pain anymore but i am sad that you had to leave so early with some much love and life and happiness to give us all. We will miss you so much and I will be praying for your family and friends to get this difficult time and i will pray that God has you in His arms. Your safe now and not in pain anymore. I can’t explain how much this has hurt us but relieved us at the same time. I am glad your in a better place now. We love you Laurren! </3 Bailee House

I learned about Laurren and all the people that cared for her through my friend, Layna. What a wonderful support group she’s had and I am thankful that she is free from the pain on earth. I know the Lord has lifted her up into his arms and is bathing her with the warmth of his love and care. I pray for the Smith family in these hard times and hope that you find strength in the weeks to come.

I know it’s hard having someone die. Everyone at Warren MS is crying right now because eveybody just heard Laurren died. I know she is up with the Lord right now! She set a good example to everyone and I just wanted everybody to know that. I hope her story will go through out the world so everybody can hear it. When it does, I know she will have a huge smile on her face in Heaven!
May the Lord be with the Smith Family

Laurren,
Sweet girl, you are such an inspiration to us all! In a world so void of hope and faith you are a shining light. Everyone that looks at you, hears about you or reads your story can’t help but see Jesus! You have brought a piece of Heaven to us all, even the ones like I that have never met you. Daily, you are in my prayers, Jesus said to ask and we shall receive, I have asked and I know as surely as I type this message you will be healed! In the morning, our whole church is going to lift our voices in prayer for you and your family and I hope that you all feel the loving arms of our Heavenly Father envelope you with His peace, strength and hope. Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, He is the giver of life! From the entire Boles family, you all are in our hearts and in our prayers daily. We thank God for the gift of having known you! You are truly precious, the absolute definition of what it means to be a hero and such a beautiful example to us all!
All our love and prayers!

How amazing it is that the Lord has given you the opportunity to speak to so many people! You have touched the hearts of so many unknowns and helped others to plant the seed of salvation in places you yourself may have never stepped foot! Thanks be to God for the wonders we will witness while he uses you as his vessel! Laurren, you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers!
Hi Laurren:
I was at your Christmas party this past Sunday in Forney. Jay Lowder is a close friend of mine, who has also been on my Cross Times radio program.
You and your story have touched my heart. What an inspiration and strength you are to me and so many others. You touched more people Sunday than most people touch in a lifetime. I know that 80 people were saved Sunday as a result of you. WOW!! Alot of “crowns” for you in heaven one day. Ha!
I would like to offer you the opportunity to be on my radio program sometime. You are so awesome and I know the world needs to hear your voice. You could do it in the studio live with headphones on, or you could do it from your home by phone. Please pray with your family about it and yall can let me know if you are interested. My show is every Sunday morning at 8:30 a.m. on 100.7 FM the Word (Christian Talk Radio) http://www.thewordfm.com It goes all over the world.
Thank you for your courage. I hope and pray for the opportunity to meet you one day. You have changed my life forever my friend.
God bless you and all you put your hands to in Jesus mighty name.

Laurren,
I learned about you from First Baptist Forney. I am a Smith and just became a cancer survivor in May. I am so proud of you, your attitude and your strength. You’re a Smith and a fighter! Us Smith’s are very stubborn and together we can get through anything.
My Smith family has a lot of cancer in our family. I lost an uncle a couple of years ago to Leukemia. He fought is for over 30 years before it took his life. My dad is battling Lymphoma and Leukemia cancer now for 9 years and 8 months. He’s still fighting. I have a cousin that is battling lung cancer since 2006 and still fighting. We have too much to live for, people to see and places to go!
Here is a small saying that I tell myself all the time.
“Cancer I did not give you the right, to invade my body and take a bite. This is my body and with all my might, I will prevail with one hell of a fight. To the cancer inside, I will battle and kill. For that is my body’s God given will. To my cancer, these words I do send. Your life is short and near the end.”
You are a hero to a lot of us! An inspiration! God will bring a miracle to you and your family. Stay strong, keep your faith and pray daily.
I live a couple streets over from you on Red Bud “136″.
You and your family are in my daily prayers!
Lots of love,
Donna

WOW! What an amazing girl! We don’t know one another but I have kept up with your story through my son Rob and your dad’s loving updates. Laurren you’ve touched my heart and life without even knowing it. I think of you daily and lift you up in prayer everytime. When I come close to Fear about anything I think of you and I opt for Faith. I watched the NBC news clip tonight (I was out of town when it aired). You attitude and courage have left me awestruck. You are an absolute doll. Keep it up! We thank you and your family for allowing us to share in the “Smith Family Christmas” October 25th and look forward to seeing you there!
I expect miracles, and I expect the impossible from our Lord, because I have witnessed both first hand. Claiming both for you! My love to you! Brenda

Laurren – I remember the very first time my family and I heard about You and Your cancer. We were at a pee-wee football game (Jackrabbits & Longhorns) and as we went to get a drink and snack from the concession stand there sat a bucket with your picture and story glued to it. As my daughter (age 9 at that time) and I read it I remember getting teary eyed as she looked at me and said “Oh my gosh Mom we have to pray for her”
I just want you to know that there is NOT A DAY that goes by that my 2 girls don’t pray for you!
We have seen you around Forney a couple of times (VBS at Fellowship, WingStop and Wal-Mart) and I feel this tug – “Momma is that Laurren?” And I tell them “yes go over and tell her hi and give her a hug” and they would both look at me and say “Momma she don’t know us” and I would tell them “oh, it’s ok – go introduce yourselves and tell her that she is in our prayers every-night”
but unfortunately my girls can be shy – so they have missed the opportunity to meet you!
At the Forney Homecoming Parade we saw a “Love for Laurren” float – I can’t tell you how that touched our hearts! After the parade we walked downtown and ordered our “Pink Love for Laurren” shirts. (And can’t wait to get them)
We are so excited about the upcoming “Christmas in October” and I just pray that God will continue to give you strength so you can enjoy your Christmas!
We will be there and I will make sure that we as a family will come and meet you and give you and big hug! My girls as so excited for you and can’t wait to finally get to meet you!
Laurren, Please remember that God is in control!
And when we do the praying – God does the answering!!!
With much Love Laurren,
The Nichols

Dear Laurren,
We are so sorry that you have bone cancer. We can’t believe you are so strong. You are so brave. We wish we we knew you and were some of your friends. We can’t believe that you wake up with a smile on your face every morning and try to make every one else’s day better. We are proud of you for fighting so hard. No one deserves to have to deal with this disease. I hope there is some way we can help you. Living each day to the fullest no matter what is a great way to live. It is cool how you are so happy all of the time. We hope you surround yourself with lots of laughs. May you feel the best you can…You have made us realize how lucky we each are for every new day. You encourage us to be our best at everything and to never complain about the little things.
Dear Laurren,

Laurren I met you when you were just 9yrs old and what an honor it was to do so. You always made me laugh when you would take the phone away from Rob to talk to me. You’re a blessing to everyone who gets to meet you sweet girl. I know that you come from a strong line of women who I myself have learned a great deal from and I know that you will continue to fight a good battle. Keep your eyes on the Lord and he will surely guide you. You and your family will be in my prayers.

Good morning for you to start the day
I woke this morning and started to pray
I prayed our day would be filled with good news
Because good news today we all could use
I prayed in the darkness and into the night
God we need a breakthrough show us some light
The doctor told mom the blood work was in
The light shined through, the tumor markers are starting to thin!
Although we expect nothing short of a miracle
All things are possible through those who are spiritual
Help us to step out and not stay in the boat
With our eyes on You, You will keep us afloat
Our daughter is awesome and surely you know
Her faith is abundant everyday it shows
She smiles all the time no matter the place
You show up everywhere without a trace
Thanks for your promise you will never leave us
Our HOPE is in You Lord,
Melissa Henderson

Hi Laurren. This is Mike Phenow. I’m a firefighter with Erin and friends of Erin and Sandy’s. I hope your treatment is going well and I hope your fundraiser is a great success this weekend!
Her story will always be a lesson in faith and a ministry for people of this community. xo
I miss you……so much
This is probaly way too late, but oh well..
Dear Laurren-
you are truly missed and dearly loved, you have a great personality and your a great leader and someday we will follow in through your steps and meet you once again, we all miss you Laurren, and we love you always&forever’!(:

Laurren-
I’ve only met you in person once, when I was with Megan Johnson, and we were at a Jackrabbit-Longhorn game.

Dear Mr. Mrs.Smith
anotine lewis had pulled me closer to laurren. from what i know she was very strong and fun to be around with. she didnt let anything get to her but kept herself and others believing. she has changed my life in many ways. relax came to be in heavens gate.
Dear Mr. Smith,
Your poem “Flying” was absoleutly amazing!
-Annoynomus.
smith family,
i just think that it is horrible that she died. i want you to know that i will always be there for you and that i loved her to death. she was my inspiration & i will always remember her.
Love,
Hannah

im very sorry about your loss. she did great thing for me and a lot of other people. we had each other for second period last year, and sixth peroud this year.i loved her very much.she was my hero and changed my life!she will be mist by lots of people.

I cannot even begin to understand the pain you feel.
I hope it gets easier, but the thought of losing anyone that close to me is un-imagable. (sp?) Anyways, I hope that the funneral services go well!
Love,

I am sorry you will miss your beautiful young lady. I am a friend of Dena Perkins, who knew her from church. I am glad she is in heaven. i will meet her someday.
I read your poem… bittersweet
We loved Laurren. My school, Brown, is torn up with our loss. We won because she had so many people come to Christ through her. We love you and we are praying for you.
Hello,
I read about your beautiful daughter on John DeFeo’s Facebook page. I lost my daughter to a horrible disease in July. She would have been 1 year old on December 11, 2009. There are no great words of comfort, there is nothing to say to make this any better. I am so very sorry.
From A Parent Who Understands
dear mr.&mrs. smith,
laurren was the most unquie person ive ever met. when i see her at school its like seeing a famous person.
when she died we were all heart brokrn. she had a good long fight for almost 3 years. now she is in peace.
she was the most beautiful, funny, talented person ive ever met. she is now in heaven with our lord and watching us from above. now when we look at the school we see her ace when we walk down the hallways we hear her voice traveling around the school.
its hard to think that shes dead. it just feels so unreal.
well now you daughter is an angel but not any angel a brown bear angel.
god bless i pray for you the best
love,
alexis rosales a 7th grader at brown middle school
laurren brooke smith we all <3 you
We want you all to know that we are so sorry to hear of Laurren’s passing. We know that you will find great comfort in knowing that she is dancing with the angel’s in heaven. She was one on Earth and is now one in Heaven. We know her life and how she chose to live it will and has affected so many. God will hold you in His right hand. Never doubt she is in our hearts forever.
Love to all,
Rob, Mendy, and Mary Kate Webb
Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of the Smith family. We never got the chance to meet Laurren, but our heart goes to you all. She seemed like a brave and joyful little girl. It is amazing how the Forney community came together for her and was truly touched by her. Again, our thoughts and prayers go out to you all…and I know she’s by God’s side now. Thank you and God Bless.
I had met laurren before my brother and her were best friends when he was in the 8th grade…i feel really sad that she passed away it made me feel that she will be placed in my heart for the rest of my life….im just really glad that she made it to december….i will always remember her as a sister in my life she meant a lot to me….when i saw her at my brothers football game and she was a really nice girl…..we will miss her very very much….. WE LOVE YOU LAURREN

Laurren,
Sweet girl, you are such an inspiration to us all!

Lots of love,
Donna
I just want you to know that you and your family are in my prayers. Remember, all things are possible through Christ.

Hi Lauren.
I don’t know you, but a girl named Nickolette (you may know her) recently sent me an invite to your Christmas In October Donation Party. And I came to this site to find out what this was all about.
I just wanna say, be strong. You’re beautiful and very strong, and you’ll make it through. (:

With much Love Laurren,
The Nichols
(Bobby, Anne, Katelynn & Kortney)

Laurren I met you when you were just 9yrs old and what an honor it was to do so. You always made me laugh when you would take the phone away from Rob to talk to me. You’re a blessing to everyone who gets to meet you sweet girl. I know that you come from a strong line of women who I myself have learned a great deal from and I know that you will continue to fight a good battle. Keep your eyes on the Lord and he will surely guide you. You and your family will be in my prayers.
Love, Tamara
Hey girl,

Thanks for your promise you will never leave us
Our HOPE is in You Lord,
Hey Laurren – your new website is awesome! It represents you well….bright and cheery! Keep smiling and we’ll keep praying. You are my hero!
